About This

• McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG.1/FGR.2: Initially intended for the Royal Navy, Phantoms operated by the RAF at Leuchars air base in Fife inherited the Fleet Air Arm Phantom fleet after the withdrawal of HMS Ark Royal in 1978. Nos 43 and 111 Squadrons utilized the Phantom FG.1 to safeguard Britain's airspace until 1989, when both squadrons transitioned to the BAe Tornado F.3
